I am one of the many people who has decided to become a little greener this year…well, I won't consider myself greener. It's more like I'm brown-ish. But I am trying (really). And it has occured to me that one of worst offenders against the environment (aside from Hummers, McMansions, and Trump's faux-hair) are weddings.
Wedding-throwers tend to buy lots and lots of something and use only a fraction of it or buy in bulk from envirnomentally suspect retailers. The biggest complaint when it comes to "greening" a wedding is that it can be so damn expensive. Fo' reals. I know it and you know it.
But sometimes, there are green and budget-friendly options. Here's one:
Appellation Wine & Spirits is, "an unconventional wine store. By unconventional we mean that we focus on producers that depart from convention and make wine that is organic or biodynamic". And while some of the wines run upwards of $120.00 – there are plenty of budget friendly options, like a Domaine Guillot-Broux Macon Villages 2006 Chardonnay for $14.99 a bottle or $13.49 a case. Or this Lustau Solera Reserva Fino Jarana Sherry for $7.99 a bottle or only $7.19 a case! WOW!
So it really is possible to be green, be cheap, and be drunk at the same time.
