Real Simple: The Organized Home is an excellent, excellent book for those wishing to cut through the crap and really make a home. Organized by room and featuring gorgeous photos, this book is a great companion for the registry seeker. Each room has 5 must-have items (and the reasons why + recommendations for materials or sizes to look for) and then a few pages of wants (also featuring reasons why + what to look for). Each section also features information on various organizational systems to incorporate into each room (+ suggestions on why they would work for you).

I literally photocopied the lists of must-haves and wants and included them in my house planning kit (along with earmarked catalogs and tear files from magazines). An excellent way to prep for registry day(s).
