I recently recieved this email from reader Christina:
"Hey! I love your blog… We are getting married in July… and although we are getting married in the chapel, I am sure we will take the majority of the pictures outside. The little bit of sidewalks and pavement there are sort of rough and uneven and everything else will be grass, so I'm thinking the girls shouldn't wear big heels. However, some of my bridesmaids are short and want to have at least a small heel. I'm having a hard time finding shoes that will go with this dress and be comfortable enough to walk on uneven ground but not so casual that they look dumb walking down the aisle. Our colors are green and brown, and I was thinking of gold or brown shoes, not shoes dyed green. I would never wear green shoes again, so I don't expect them to buy them. Anyways, if you have any ideas, I would appreciate it!"
First, thanks for the blog love!
Second, love that you "get" that ain't nobody wanna wear your wedding stuff ever again. Best. Bride. Ever.
Third, I love the dress that you selected for your 'maids and your shoe ideas. Here's what I found (all on a budget and with a heel of 3″ or less):
*1. Payless Marshall Natural Wedge Slingback – $24.99. A very casual option but with a cool wedge heel that allows for height but also stability.
*2. Payless Lexi Huarache Dress Sandal – $24.99. A pretty gold option that reminds me of professional dancing shoes.
*3. Old Navy Faux-Leather Knee-High Boots – $49.50. Shocked?!?! Hear me out. If you are hosting a spring or a fall wedding, tall boots are perfectly appropriate (and can handle the outdoors). Wear alone or with some sexy textured tights.
*4. Target Merona Collection Yon Heeled Sandals in Gold – $29.99. A more casual gold heel – isn't the flower medallion thingy great?
*5. Target Mossimo Halle Glitter Sandals in Bronze – $17.99. Ah, the classic kitten heel (it listed right up there with the pump as one of the most wearable shoes ever) and the deep bronze color enhances the green of the dress.
*6. Stylux Pointed Toe Kitten Heel – $14.99 (available via Amazon). Another version of the sexy kitten heel. This one is closed toe and comes in several colors – try brown, bronze, or gunmetal.
Hope one of these work for you, Christina. As always, thanks for letting me help you plan your Big Day and send pictures!
