Music: Mother/Son Dance – The Moment (And Some Great Song Alternatives)

The Potomac Falls, Virginia wedding of Jermaine Everett to Niesha Washington was a stunner but it was these powerful images (by the photography team at Ever After Visuals) that had me tearing up:

Okay, if you haven't said it already then I'll do it for you. Awwwwww! Take a moment, wipe the tears away, aaaaanddd… phew! Don't know about ya'll but I almost didn't make it there.

One new trend that I'm seeing a lot of and FULLY embrace is the use of familiar but not totally traditional songs for the Mother/Son Dance. I lurve that idea and wanted to share a few options for the Mother/Son Dance. After all, how many more times can anyone handle hearing that damn “I Hope You Dance” song? So, for Tulle Nation, I have compiled a list of awesome and unusual Mother/Son dance songs. Here's some that I came up with:

Just a Note: At several of the weddings that I have attended in the past couple of years, I've seen a really sweet little thing that I hope moves from a trend to a tradition. During the Mother/Son dance, the first verse and chorus are danced as a solo for the Groom and the Mother of the Groom. Then the Master of Ceremonies opens the dance floor up to ALL mothers and sons to join in the dancing. This is a GREAT opportunity for fab photos and lasting memories – I would encourage you to give it a shot at your reception.

Grooms, do you know what song you'll be dancing with your momma to? Are you going with any of the ones listed above? Why did you pick the one that you did? Share away!
