I was never a big Halloween person but always loved to dress up in a costume. In my home, it was a tradition to have may mom make the costumes. I have really fond memories of going to the fabric store, picking out my costume from the enormous book of patterns, and then helping my mom find the fabrics. I learned how to sew by helping my mom make my costumes through the years. So, once I had my own kid, it was incredibly important to me to recreate this tradition. Up until now, I've chosen Melanie's costumes and made them but this year, she is WAY into Halloween and told me what she wanted to be (Finn's a baby so his getting what he gets). Wanna see what we're going with? Without further adieu, here's Melanie and Finn's 2016 Halloween costumes: a mermaid and Baby Groot from Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy”!
Melanie has wanted to be a mermaid since she saw some costumes at Target (not The Little Mermaid – just a generic one!) and I've been dying to do up a Baby Groot costume for Finn since we rewatched the movie during my pregnancy. Want your kids to be the same thing but don't have time to make them? You can buy a mermaid costume or this this Baby Groot costume and have it delivered to your house in time for Halloween.
