Pregnancy: Putting Together Our Hospital Bag

// this post contains affiliate links which cost you nothing extra but allow me to help support my family //

So, according to my Nurse Practitioner – I'm old. So old that if I don't put together a hospital bag today THEN OUR BABY WILL SUFFER! I might be paraphrasing a little. Anyhoo, our assignment this week is to pack a hospital bag for me, for The Boy, and for Baby Voldemort. I've been trying to pull together a good list and thought I'd run what I've come up with past y'all for recommendations (please keep in mind that I am low-maintenance and planning on a vaginal birth, breastfeeding, and going home the same day):

Pregnancy: Putting Together Our Hospital Bag

For Me (in a small tote bag):

  • Wallet (with military ID and insurance card)
  • Purple passport (a little booklet with all my OB/GYN records in it)
  • Cell phone (The Boy packs the charger)
  • Camera + charger
  • Pillow + Blue Blanket
  • iPod + head phones + charger
  • (5) Copies of birth plan
  • Planner + pen
  • Towel
  • Nursing pads
  • Nipple cream
  • Tennis ball (for massaging back)
  • Baggu bag (to pack the crap the hospital sends home with us)
  • (2) Flip flops (one set to wear home and one set for the shower)
  • (1) Yoga pants (wear home)
  • (2) Nursing tank tops (wear one home)
  • (1) Cardigan (wear home)
  • (6-7) Sets of giant scary underwear
  • (2) Nursing bras (not underwire)
  • (2) Button down tops OR nighties (for labor)
  • (1-2) Non-skid socks (for labor)
  • Hairbrush
  • Toiletries (travel size): concealer, blush, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, soap, moisturizer, face wash, facial wipes, mousse, chapstick, nail clippers, lotion, tissues, deodorant, contact solution, glasses, spare contacts, hair ties, Q-tips, washcloth

For The Boy (in a small backpack):

  • Admission paperwork
  • Wallet
  • Cell phone + charger
  • iPod + headphones
  • Book
  • (2) Sets of clothes
  • Travel size toiletries
  • Pillow + blanket
  • Contact list (people to call after Baby Voldemort is born)
  • Change + cash (for vending machines)
  • Swimming trunks or extra underwear (in case we bathe during labor)
  • Mini cooler with water, fruit pieces, and granola bars

For Baby Voldemort (in the diaper bag):

  • Quilt
  • (2) Thin blankets that can get icky
  • Going home outfit
  • (3) Hats
  • (1) Pack of disposable wipes
  • (3) Socks
  • (2) Mittens
  • (2) Baby wash clothes
  • Newborn size sucky (pacifier)
  • Car seat (already installed in car)

Would you change or suggest anything else for my hospital bag?
