Wedding Registry: Where to Invest and Where to Save

[su_note note_color=”#FFFFFF”]// Sponsored by Braun/De’Longhi. All thoughts and opinions are my own. //[/su_note]

It's wedding registry time! I mean, not mine – we did that a million years ago.

But, it IS that time of year.

Wedding Registry: Where to Invest and Where to Save

The time when couples are planning their own wedding registries and trying to figure out WHAT in the world they should be adding to the list.

Well, I've got a couple of tips for y'all on that front. Here's my rundown of the wedding registry: where to invest and where to save!

The Lowdown

Honestly, when it comes to registering for wedding gifts, you really only need to keep a few things in mind.

  1. Do we already have one and need an upgrade?
  2. Do we NOT have one and need one?
  3. Will we be using this a lot during our life together?
  4. Do we really, really just love it?

Consider Your Needs

A wedding registry these days is intended to reflect YOUR life and your needs.

Gone are the days of every single person on the planet adding the same exact items on their lists (fine china for 12, anyone?).

These days, you have the opportunity to have a little more fun and really personalize your options.

Pick items that you know you'll actually use and enjoy. Don't add anything that doesn't fit your lifestyle or dreams – that's just wasted energy.

Inventory What Your Already Have

The really, really important thing though is to inventory what you already have and fill in the gaps.

Now's the time to ask for an item that you don't have but know you need.

It's also a good opportunity to upgrade items that you already own and love but need better versions of.

This is huge – get. what. you. need. and. will. use.

Places To Save

One place where I recommend saving is on items like cloth napkins and throw pillows.

Look, you can buy really cute ones really affordably these days so there's no point in cluttering up your registry with them.

Your tastes will change with the seasons so toss a couple of inexpensive ones on there and then plan to buy more on your own later.

This also goes for seasonal items.

You may host Thanksgiving at your house every year but if you never roast a turkey outside of that time, there's really no need for an expensive roasting pan.

Investment Items

The investment items are your registry gold. These are the things that you already own and love so you know you're ready for a quality one.

Or, you have a noticeable gap in your line-up and know that getting a quality one will make all the difference.

For example, small kitchen appliances. We know and love them – they are the workhorses of the kitchen, right?

Quality Kitchen Appliances

Hands down, one of the best things we did when we registered was to add good quality small kitchen appliances to our list.

Items like this Braun PureMix Power Blender (available with a gorgeous white finish on BedBathandBeyond.com and in stores) are kitchen GOLD.

They have a very small footprint but are so versatile and well-made. The new sleek look and glossy white plus stainless design are a timeless design for any kitchen.

Add to that the blender's incredible 1000 watts of power plus PowerAssist technology and you've got yourself a killer kitchen combo.

Personally, I love the Smooth Crush blade system and three pre-set blending functions (smoothie, chop, and ice crush) which made whipping up my favorite Morning After Glow Smoothie a breeze!
