If you're family is like mine, you LOVE being outdoors! From the moment they wake up until it's too dark to see our hands in from of our faces, Melanie and Finn want to play, play, play outside. It's awesome since we live on over 3 acres and they can really run around and enjoy themselves. But the relentless Texas heat and sun was definitely a concern for me, particularly since Finn has hyper sensitive skin. I wanted to plan all these awesome outdoor activities to do with my kids, but needed to know that their skin would be protected while we did them. I was so happy when La Roche-Posay sent me a few products to try out: the Anthelios Dermo-Kids, the Cicaplast Baume B5, and MY UV Patches. I felt complete confidence in enjoying any of these 5 ways to have some family fun outdoors (featuring La Roche-Posay)!
Jumping On The Trampoline: We just got a huge trampoline and the kids are loving it! Because of the dark surface, I always make sure to apply one of MY UV Patches, the first-ever stretchable skin sensor designed to monitor UV radiation in real-time via a mobile app (available both on iOS and Android), to monitor their daily sun exposure while they enjoy hours jumping up and down.
Blowing Giant Bubbles: My kids L O V E bubbles. We always keep gallons of bubble solution around in the summer and, after slathering them up with Anthelios Dermo-Kids, I let them select they favorite bubble wands. Finn loves the little machines that automatically blow out small bubbles while Melanie always chooses the biggest bubble wand available.
Tumbling On The Lawn: Melanie has always been a rough-and-tumble kid and Finn is right there with her. This year, we made sure to take care of the lawn so it has soft spots perfect for somersaults and babies who like to lean down and look through their legs. I like they're getting tons of exercise and they just love wrestling with each other.
Playing With The Hose: A childhood tradition! The kids either put on swimsuits or strip down to nothing (calm down, our neighbors cannot see us) and splash and play for HOURS in the water. I do make sure to reapply Anthelios Dermo-Kids though since it is made with powerful UVA/UVB filters that provide broad spectrum, 80-minute water resistant protection, highly protective ingredients and antioxidants that are effective, safe, and gentle on children’s sensitive skin (it was also developed in association with moms, dermatologists, and pediatricians!).
Twilight Dance Parties: So, this is one that we just started doing and the kids are having a great time with it. Right before it gets completely dark, we make sure to apply the Cicaplast Baume B5 since it helps nourish and sooth dry skin, then we bust out some tunes and boogie down. They kids have favorite songs that they love to dance to and request them over and over.
Will you be doing any of these fun outdoor activities this summer? If you are, please remember to apply sunscreen and monitor sun exposure on yourself and your little ones since, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, at least 23% of lifetime sun exposure occurs by the age of 18! The Skin Cancer foundation also reports that just five sunburns before the age of 20 can increase the risk of melanoma by a startling +80% andThese sunburns may cause irreversible damage that could make the skin more fragile over the long-term, which in turn leads to accelerated skin aging and increased risk of skin cancer. That's why it's so cool that La Roche-Posay is a family-oriented brand! They offer products for the entire family – including kids and babies. Get yours at CVS, Amazon, or find it using .
