My Mom’s Greatest Strength was in Sharing Small Moments with her Children

[su_note note_color=”#FFFFFF”]// This post is sponsored by Hefty®. All thoughts and opinions are my own. //[/su_note]

I like the idea of traditions – my mom loved tradition. I find myself carrying so many of her seasonal and little traditions with my own kids. But, it's the little daily ones that she did that seem to have had the biggest impact on my happiness. Those are the ones that showed me time and time again that my mom's greatest strength was in sharing small moments with her children.

One of my favorite little traditions that my mom did was letting us cuddle with her in her bed. I have very strong memories of her arms around me and the smell of the soap she used. She also had this blue down comforter that I like to twist around my fingers as she snuggled me close and sniffed my hair.

I think that this little tradition was what made me so confident and understanding of the power in being quiet and just connecting without words. She showed me that there is so much strength in silence and that it is not something to be afraid of. Being quiet doesn't mean that you have nothing to say – it just means that you are making an effort to listen.

Ever since Melanie was born, I've taken time in the morning to hold her. When she was a baby, I needed to nurse her, which would turn into a little cuddle time once she was done. As she grew, the tradition continued. Now, she wakes up in the morning and comes straight into my room demanding “Cuddles, please!” Her brother also loves his mama time and will push my hands until they wrap around him.

And you know what? It's those little traditions, routines, and even messes that make you a strong mom. Every day we face daily struggles and decisions head on. Did you know that Hefty® celebrates strong moms? They know that, just like their , moms have to be Ultra Strong every day and with everything they do.

As a strong mom raised by another strong mom, I am impressed by the strength of . The Triple Action Technology helps resist tears, punctures, and leaks while the break resistant grip drawstring stops the bag from falling in your trashcan (the worst, right?). And, I’m even more impressed that Hefty® is so sure that they are strong enough to manage all your trash bag needs that they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee (or your money back).
