The Gift Every New Mom REALLY Wants!
I recently had my second child and this time, I tried to be more prepared then I was the first go around. I pre-washed all the baby’s clothes, read the instructions for my new breast pump, and (most importantly) this time – I had most of my postpartum meals preplanned. And one of those meals was getting a delivery from Blue Apron. I really didn’t know what to expect but ended up LOVING it. I also decided that THIS is that gift that I’m giving at every baby shower from here on out. Because, honestly, this is the gift every new mom REALLY wants!
Making Marinara With Kids and Cleaning Up With WaterWipes
My daughter is just now getting to the point were she wants to help me cook. I love it and am always trying to figure out a way to include her in the process. I’ve discovered that having her help me with prepping bulk cooking that I do every month (making a taco spice mix, cooking up some chicken noodle soup for the week, and the like). Recently, she’s been helping me make marinara sauce. She loves the getting messy part of it so much that I invited the kids next door over for a little marinara making party! Here’s my recipe and tips for making marinara with kids and cleaning up with WaterWipes.
The 10 People You Meet At Library Storytime
I’ve been lucky enough for the last year to be able to snag the car from my husband (we’re a one car family) once a week so I can take my daughter to storytime at our local library. Since it’s literally the only time she gets to socialize with other children during the week, I’ve worked really hard to be sure and get us there no matter what. Sure, she sucks at sitting still and listening (and frequently stand RIGHT IN FRONT of the book being read) but she’s definitely grown and gotten better at participating. I do love seeing her enjoy the new books and playing with toys but, I gotta tell ya, as a total introvert, I’m totally over being there with other parents. I KNOW! I’m an asshole. But listen, they’re all there and have all these different personalities and, for my social anxious ass, it’s super overwhelming. And they all basically fall into the same groups, or, as I like to call it – the 10 people you meet at library storytime:
Why Chemical Free Baby Care Is So Important And How WaterWipes Is Helping You Achieve It
As many of you know, I just had my second child (Welcome to the world, Finn!) and we are knee deep in babyness over here. It’s all uninterrupted sleep, boobs, and diapers. SO. MANY. DIAPERS. And you know what that means? So. Many. Wipes. And with that many wipes comes toxins and chemicals… or does it? Y’all know that I’m SUPER picky about keeping my house green and toxin-free. I strive to make it a safe haven for my family. But that’s so tough to do with baby wipes! That’s why I’m so delighted to discover WaterWipes! A company that is passionate about sharing why chemical free baby care is so important and how they are helping you achieve it.
Work At Home Mom: Ideology Versus Reality
I was raised by a work at home mom (my mom has had her own accounting business for 40+ years) and, to me, it was the ideal situation if I ever became a mom. I’d get to spend time with my kids and be there for special school days or to volunteer but I’d also get to help make money for the household and retain a little of my pre-kid independence. And I’m thrilled to say that, for the most part, I’m incredibly happy to be a WAHM. Sure, it’s exhausting and demanding and I routinely forget to brush my teeth, but, all in all, I like it. However, I have noticed that when you tell people that you’re a mom who works from home – they… really DO NOT get it. It’s funny to me to hear what people think WAHMs do (compared to what we actually do) so I’ve come up with this little graphic to show you what it’s like to be a Work At Home Mom: Ideology Versus Reality.
The Sweetest Thing You Can Do For An Expectant Mom In The Weeks BEFORE The Baby Comes
This weekend, my neighbor surprised me with the sweetest thing you can do for an expectant mom in the weeks before the baby comes. She made me a week’s worth of bake-n-serve meals! Yes, yes. I know that every new mom wants meals like this after the baby shows up (I did and LOVED IT). It’s the best thing ever to not have to worry about feeding people and yourself while also juggling a newborn. But honestly, it’s so completely awesome to not have to think about planning, cooking, and cleaning up after a meal in those last few weeks of the third trimester. So, if you’d like to give an expectant mom the best surprise ever, here’s a short list of some tasty bake-n-go and crock pot dump freezer meals that would be perfect!
The Slacker Mom’s Guide To Getting Your House Company Clean in 20 Minutes
I am a slacker mom. No, no. Let me clarify that. I am THE Slacker Mom – the Patron Saint of Slacker Moms, if you will. I am beyond lazy. Look I adore my family and I’m grateful to be able to work from home but I am definitely NOT the kind of mom who plans elaborate parties to celebrate half-birthdays or creates a learning center in the corner or my beautifully landscaped yard for the neighborhood kids. Frankly, you’ll be lucky if you come to my house before 5PM and find me with my teeth brushed. So, keeping my house “company clean” at all times is… not gonna happen (I salute those of you who do though!). So, I’ve spent the last few years finding products that can quickly and effectively make my house shine. And with the help of Costco, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, Dawn Platinum Advanced Power, and Cascade Complete Action Pacs, I’ve perfected what I like to call, “The Slacker Mom’s Guide To Getting Your House Company Clean in 20 Minutes”.
