The Top 12 Items You Actually Need For Your Kitchen

[su_note note_color=”#ffffff”]// I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. This helps me support my family at no extra cost to you. //[/su_note]

Cooking. It's one of those things that you either LOVE or you really don't enjoy it. For me, cooking is something that I like to do for my family but I'm not one of those people who is over here inventing recipes everyday. So, if you look in my kitchen, you won't find a bunch of gadgets or specialized kitchen tools – what you'll find is a selection of high quality, well-designed items that work great. I always look for versatility in my kitchen tools and really need ones that can do multiple jobs really well. Because, when it boils down to it, here's the top 12 items you actually need for your kitchen:

The Top 12 Items You Actually Need For Your Kitchen #cooking #recipe #weddingregistry #food #kitchen

Mixing Bowl Set :: You have to have some kind of container to mix things in and these mixing bowls are awesome. Super stylish plus the stainless steel is easy to clean. The metal material makes these bowls awesome for chilling dough prior to baking and safely melting chocolate over a pot of boiling water.

Spatula Set :: I find that spatulas are some of my most used utensils in the kitchen. From mixing, to scooping, to brushing, to smearing – silicone spatulas are amazing. Look for ones with strong beechwood handles and silicone that can be easily cleaned.

Kitchen Shears :: A workhorse in the kitchen. They open packages, trim fat off meat, snip vegetables, cut up meat, and can unclog spouts. Getting a pair made from stainless steel is so important because these babies do everything and need to be well-made.

Herb Scissors :: I resisted these forever because they seemed like such a gadget type item but y'all, these are AMAZING. I use fresh herbs in almost all of my cooking and trying to finely chop them was time-consuming. I love that a solid pair of stainless steel herb scissors can cut that time down significantly. Plus, they are really easy to clean.

Squared Measuring Spoons :: Squared measuring spoons are the best. They are shaped this way to easily fit inside spice jars. Between the shape and the quality stainless steel, these are a good tool to have in the kitchen.

Measuring Cups :: Perfect for measuring dry ingredients. Look for ones made from stainless steel and with silicone handles for a tight grip. Be sure to get the five most used measuring sizes: 1/8 Cup, ¼ Cup, 1/3 Cup, ½ Cup, and 1 Cup.

Silicone Tongs :: Silicone tipped kitchen tongs are super useful. They can be used while grilling, to prep meat, to toss pasta, and to carefully remove baked goods from cooking sheets. I have multiple pairs because I use them so often.

Whisk :: This is a far more versatile tool than most people are aware of. They can mix together ingredients while baking or making a sauce. They are a quick way to sift dry goods (instead of using a wire mesh). A stainless steel version is a good buy because the material can handle various food mediums without corrosion.

Potato Peeler :: If you've ever tried to peel a bag of potatoes with a flimsy peeler then you know how vital a strong stainless steel peeler is. Use it to peel any root vegetable, create chocolate shavings, and even peel an onion! One made of stainless steel and with a hefty handle will last the longest.

Handheld Can Opener :: In a small kitchen, a handheld can opener is preferable to an electric one since they take up less space. Look for one made from easy to clean stainless steel and with a built-in bottle opener. A sharp cutting wheel will make safer cuts and silicone handles will help with grip.

Flexible Measuring Cups :: For a lot of recipes, you'll need to measure and use a large amount of liquid. So, it's nice to have an extra set of flexible measuring cups just for liquids. Look for a set that has the three most common sizes: 1 Cup, 2 Cup, and 4 Cup.

Stainless Steel Spatula :: Perfect for grilling, pancakes, fish, and removing baked goods from cooking sheets. Ones made of stainless steel and with slots are best since they can be used for multiple purposes.
