At 23 weeks in this pregnancy and starting to feel Baby Voldemort move on a regular basis (it's a weird wave sensation – almost like mild indigestion) – enjoy another one of my weekly photo/FYI sessions (ala Little Baby Garvin).
How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: We Shall Not Speak of This.
Maternity clothes? It's warmer now so I'm regularly wearing my Old Navy maxi skirts and tank tops. Will be investing in a few new tops and skirts this weekend.
Stretch marks? No new ones.
Sleep: Not sleeping that great but I think it's more “getting messed up by Daylight Saving Time” and less pregnancy-related.
Best moment this week: Think that The Boy and I figured out Baby Voldemort's name! I've been daydreaming about talking to her once she's born and using the name. Sorry y'all – we're keeping it to ourselves until AFTER she's born.
Miss Anything? Being able to sit on the couch Indian-style. Also, sleeping on my back.
Movement: I'm starting to feel her move on a regular basis. Nothing yet for The Boy but hopefully that will be soon.
Food cravings: Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs and ice cream.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Oh Lord. Last night I ate two dill pickles right before bed and was MISERABLE. My fingers got all swollen and I was dying of thirst all night long. *FYI, the pickles thing isn't pregnancy-related. I LOVE PICKLES and have been eating them daily for a couple of years now.
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Round ligament pain and constipation.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: I'm pretty damn happy but I did just bawl while watching that Iams cat food commercial with the little autistic boy and his cat.
Looking forward to: Finishing our bathroom and moving my laundry room inside. Every small step is one step closer to decorating Baby Voldemort's nursery!
In other news, looks like my mom and my teenage siblings (two brothers and sister) will be here with me for most of the summer. I'm so excited for several reasons:
- Free labor. I have an active puppy and a needy cat. As I get further along (and after the baby is born), I'm going to need help giving those two the attention that they've grown accustomed to.
- Breastfeeding help. This one's strictly my mom. She breastfeed three kids and we live really far away from any outside help. So it's all her. I have no idea how to do it (contrary to popular belief, it DOES NOT “come naturally” to many babies or moms) and was stressing about how to handle any problems that might arise.
- Built-in babysitters. At some point, I'll have to go to doctor's appointments and the grocery store and such. It'll be handy to have an extra pair of hands to babysit at home or come along and help.
- Company. I'm really good at being alone but, as I get more immobile – it'll be nice to have a kid come along with me on a walk. Just in case.
- Learning. These three have never really been old enough to experience a newborn baby. I was their age when my first nephew was born and vividly remember how much I learned just being around and helping out my sister. I'd love the same experience for them.
