Floral Letter “M” For Melanie’s Room

// I may earn money from the companies mentioned in this post. //

Have y'all seen the new Mood 13 digital magazine yet? Hooboy – is. it. cute.

Basically, it's a craft magazine where all the projects are inspired by Taylor Swift.

I mean… adorable.

Anyway, y'all know I love me a good craft ‘zine so I spent a delightful couple of hours browsing the April and May issues.

There were so many super cute ideas!

I really loved one in particular – this floral number “13”.

So, I decided to make something similar to hang on the door of Melanie's new room in Alaska.

She's SO EXCITED to finally have her own bedroom so we've been slowly decorating it to reflect her style and ideas.

For example, she wanted to paint it pink and (after narrowing down to four pinks Mama could live with), she actually chose the softest, subtlest pink option.

Color me surprised.

I also surprised her by having the electrician hang a pink chandelier in her room.

I mean, if you can't have a pink crystal chandy when you're six then WHEN CAN YOU?!?!

I'm still working on trying to find a Jenny Lind spindle daybed that will ship to Alaska for less than my new car.

She needs some bookshelves custom built on either side of her window.

We need blinds because:

  1. naked Melanie wandering around a street-facing room is no bueno
  2. these long Alaska days are messing with her sleep.

For years, I have been collecting art for her room to create a huge gallery wall.

Need the bookshelves and daybed in place to arrange and hang those up.

Her closet is a hot mess and she doesn't have a toy box for all her toys but…

I can hang a cute floral “M” on her door. I CAN AND I DID.

I was able to get a paper mache “M” off Amazon plus the floral foam and fake flowers.

I already had the utility knife, wire cutters, and hot glue.

This entire project was SUPER easy to do – I just followed the step-by-step directions from the May 2020 issue.

Entire thing took me less than 15 minutes total.

I hung it up on her door with some 3M strips.

Cute, right?

I love this so much that I just ordered materials to make an “F” one for Finn's bedroom door (but with moss instead of flowers).
