My Labor and Delivery Must Haves

// I may earn money from the companies mentioned in this post. //

Now that I've experienced the labor and delivery process twice, I feel like I can honestly share the handful of items that really helped me during that time.

My Labor and Delivery Must Haves

I mean, there's a ton of stuff that you CAN use.

However, there were a few specific items that I ended up being VERY grateful to have during my labor and delivery and thought I'd share them with y'all.

Starbucks 16 Ounce Clear Acrylic Insulated Tumbler

OMG. My best friend brought me this and it is hands down the greatest thing I had with me during the whole shebang.

While I labored at home, my mom kept it filled with ice cold water and at the hospital the nurses kept it topped off with ice and water.

Post-delivery (during the hour you're laying there in your own blood and ick and still totally dazed), my husband kept offering it to me to drink from. Wonderful.

Spotify Playlist on my Samsung Galaxy phone

I made sure to download my relaxation music months beforehand so once the contractions really started, all I had to do was pull it up and focus on relaxing.

Contractions Tracker

These days no one wears a watch with a second hand anymore so I was glad when my husband downloaded this contraction app to time those suckers.

Hair Bands

It pissed me off to have my hair in my face while I was laboring (and feeling pissed off stopped me from relaxing which made it difficult to manage the pain effectively).

So, I was happy that I remembered to pack a handful of these hair bands in my bag.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

Laboring is hard work and will dehydrate you.

Be prepared with chapstick. I was glad to have mine handy (and a husband willing to apply it since I wasn't too coordinated near the end there).

Pads

My water “broke” hours before the contractions started and while I was at home (Actually, it didn't so much break as just leak non-stop for HOURS).

I was glad to have some pads on hand so I wasn't sitting around laboring in wet panties.

Le Crappy Blue Blanket (or your chosen security item)

Listen, don't judge me but I have a security blanket. It is blue. It is nasty. It is mine. I have had this blanket mailed to me after leaving it in a hotel room.

I have refused to spend the night away from my home because I did not have it. I love it unabashedly and unashamed.

I was SO happy to have it with me (my husband wrapped it around me for my trip to the postpartum wing).

What were your labor and delivery must haves?

Sharing is caring!
