I am one of those people who is most definitely NOT a fashionista. I have a look and I tend to stick to it. The same goes for my maternity wear wardrobe – I have a few looks that work for me and I wear them over and over. The nice thing about this method is that I just buy the basic pieces in bulk when I can and then mix them up as needed. Want to see what I mean? Here are my favorite maternity outfits for the second trimester:
For Around The House:
Leggings // Tank Top // Cardigan // Hair Ties // Flip Flops
I work from home and live in a rural area where I can't even see my neighbors so I pretty much live in leggings, tank tops, cardigans, flip flops, and a messy Mom Top Knot. Easy, comfy, and washable – all of my requirements for living and working with a toddler.
For Work:
Slim Fit Pants // Nice Top // Statement Necklace // Designer Bag // Flats
About once a month or so, I need to do some work-related event outside of my house (conference, teaching a class, attending an event). And I can't do that in leggings (unfortunately). So I need to keep a few pieces in my closet that can be casually dressed up but still keeps me comfortable.
For Weekend Fun:
Jean Skirt // T-Shirt // Tote // Sunglasses // Tennis Shoes
I tend to do pretty easy-going stuff on the weekends – playing at the park with Melanie, running errands, checking out flea markets. So none of my weekend gear needs to be fancy. Really, I need comfortable stuff that can get grass stains and dirt on paired with shoes made for walking. Factor in the Texas heat and this skirt, tee, Converse, tote, and sunnies combo is perfect.
For Dressing Up:
Dress // Wrap // Clutch // Earrings // Necklace // Heels
I don't dress up very often but I do have a couple of events that will be happening during my pregnancy that require me to toss on a sparkly dress and some heels. I like to keep everything else simple and pair a clutch, earrings, necklace, and wrap with the basic pieces. Sure, the heels aren't super practical but, hell, you're pregnant – it's a great excuse to sit on your butt all night and/or make your partner rub your sore feet!
For Working Out:
Compression Pants // Tank Top // Sports Bra // Hair Ties // Tennis Shoes
I work out at home and, while I'm pregnant, I do a lot of body weight strength training and HIIT cardio. Personally, I love long compression leggings, a killer sports bra, loose tank top that wicks sweat, hair tie, and comfortable shoes while I work out. Every stays (basically) where it's supposed to and I can toss it all in the washing machine then hang to dry once a week.
