Planning Your Wardrobe
Know Your Lifestyle:
The first step to planning the ultimate affordable fall wardrobe is knowing your lifestyle.
Really think about what you'll be doing for the bulk of each day – carpool, nursing, cleaning, playing pirates?
By lumping like activities together, you'll better be able to plan what to wear each day and cut down on the need to create multiple outfits.
Plan Foundation Items:
Next, you'll need to plan your foundation items (generally, shoes/boots, dresses, shorts, skirts, outerwear, and tops).
Pick 1-2 items in neutral colors for each category that would work for at least 2-3 different days.
Don't stress out about this – you may find that you can swap out a foundation piece for a fun accent piece later.
Consider The Weather:
Once you have a basic grasp on how you'll be spending each day, then you can begin to consider the weather conditions for your area.
Try to figure out a look that can be created using one or two special “weather-related” items combined with the same foundation pieces.
This will make it easy to plan 1-2 completely different outfits for each day depending on the weather.
Create Your Outfits:
Lastly, you'll plan each day's outfit.
Look to see where you can add/swap out accessories or accent pieces to create different looks with each combination.
Try to see if you can reuse the same accessory with another combination – you're looking for every single item to do double (or triple) duty.
