Did you ring in the New Year with a brand new ring on your finger? If so, you most likely experienced a few moments of overwhelming bliss followed by a tiny bit of dread as soon as you realized all the work that lies ahead. But even though there’s a lot to do before you say “I do,” there are a few simple steps you can take that will have you waving goodbye to that pre-marital pressure you’re now feeling.

So here are five tips that will keep your inner bridezilla from breaking loose before the big day:

  • Stay organized: There’s nothing worse than a frazzled and discombobulated bride. That’s why it’s a good idea to find a planner notebook where you can keep everything pertaining to your wedding in one neatly arranged place. From to-do lists to ideas and inspiration, keeping all your wedding materials in a single designated area will help you to avoid the risk of misplacing important documents or losing track of notes.
  • Make a budget: Setting a clear and defined budget will allow you to understand what you’re working with and will make you plan more efficiently. This will also help you to be more organized and will give you direction when making decisions.

Save the date

    • Save the date: After you confirm the date, reserve the venue and have your guest list firmly locked down, you’ll want to send out your stylish save the dates right away. This will allow your guests enough time to clear their calendars and make sure there’s nothing else conflicting on that day. But do this only after your guest list is totally finalized. This way if you decide to have a smaller wedding later on, you won’t hurt anyone’s feelings if you don’t send them a formal invitation.
    • Let others take control: As a bride-to-be, your desire for perfection can turn you into a control freak. But remember that certain pre-wedding events should never be planned by the bride. For example, if you host your own bridal shower it displays bad etiquette and can be viewed as gift-grabby. So no matter how bad you want to take the reins, trust that your bridesmaids will throw an incredible party and will send out those pretty bridal shower invitations you’ve had your eye on.

Bridal shower

    • Savor the moment: Don’t get so caught up in all the pre-wedding preparations that you forget to enjoy your engagement. This is only a short period and if you spend every spare moment planning it will go by in a flash. Savor this experience by scheduling days where just you and your fiancé can enjoy quality time together.
