Why Have a Wedding?

Getting married doesn't have anything to do with having a wedding. The actual act of getting married is pretty basic and simple (see how to get married in your state here) and requires a little paperwork and no fanfare. But having a wedding? ANYONE can have a wedding (The Boy and I had two!). Which begs the question – why have a wedding? Well, I can only speak for myself but I loved having a wedding since it was an excuse to gather up friends and family I rarely see and have a great party. But don't listen to me, here's why other bloggers and Tulle readers think a wedding is the shit:

"Because there's nothing like saying 'I do' to the one you love in front of all your friends and family." – Shafonne Meyers, Pretty Pear Bride

"For the after party with friends and family and laughter…" – Aimee Ramos Fauci, House of Faucis

"Because you're joining two families, not just two people." – Christie Osborne, Mountainside Bride

"It may sound silly, but there is no other time where you can get everybody you love (and everybody your favorite person loves) together in one place for a big, happy party!" - Ashley Szabo Miller

"Because it's the one day when you have everyone that you love and that is most important to you surrounding you to celebrate a beautiful occassion." - Brooke Swallow Meabon, Alamo City Mom's Blog

"When else will you get to wear such a beautiful dress?" - Lisa Branam, Lisabranam.com

"It's a time to celebrate your union with family and friends." – Jolie Gray, The Gray Matters

"This is one of those once in a lifetime events that you want to share with your friends and family – and have memories to cherish with them for years to come!" – Ariana Batz, Hey Wedding Lady

"The easy answer is to celebrate with the ones you love and usher in a new phase in life. But there's also the societal pressures, social stigmas (that unfortunately still exist) surrounding elopements, etc. But weddings aren't just for the couple — they're for the families as well. It's a moment of closure and newness all at the same time. Much like birthday parties and graduation parties celebrate both the beginning and end of eras, a wedding celebrates the end of singledom and the beginning of a baby family as well as extended families." - Christen Moynihan, The Broke Ass Bride

"It is the the perfect way to mark the new journey you're about to embark on together!" – Ali Lang, Hoots of a Night Al

"Because finding someone who you want to spend the rest of your life with, who happens to feel the same way about you, is something to celebrate!" – Krissy Graham

"Because it's your last chance to wear white and have people believe you." - Brandi Dunagan, I Can't Hear Myself Drink

Why do you think people should have a wedding?
