One of the hardest parts about being a mom is remembering to care about what you look like. Often, you're overworked and struggling on a budget so taking the time to dress nicely or invest in a few items for your "new" body is just too overwhelming. I know – I feel like I'm there every. single. day. So, I'm helping you out. Here's some solid and affordable pieces (and a couple of investments) for a few looks perfect for a stay-at-home mom:
Skinny Jeans // T-Shirt // Long Cardigan // Colorful Rain Boots // Printed Tote // Gold Arrow Necklace // Black Fitted Pants // Tank Top // Chambray Shirt // Gold Y-Necklace // Ballet Flats // Patterned Infinity Scarf // Satchel // Raglan T-Shirt // Khaki Skirt // Boots // Bracelet // Please Note: Have a raincoat handy for the wind and rain associated with spring
The first step to planning the ultimate affordable spring wardrobe is knowing your lifestyle. Really think about what you'll be doing for the bulk of each day – carpool, nursing, cleaning, playing pirates? By lumping like activities together, you'll better be able to plan what to wear each day and cut down on the need to create multiple outfits.
Next, you'll need to plan your foundation items (generally, shoes/boots, dresses, shorts, skirts, outerwear, and tops). Pick 1-2 items in neutral colors for each category that would work for at least 2-3 different days. Don't stress out about this – you may find that you can swap out a foundation piece for a fun accent piece later.
Once you have a basic grasp on how you'll be spending each day, then you can begin to consider the weather conditions for your area. Try to figure out a look that can be created using one or two special "weather-related" items combined with the same foundation pieces. This will make it easy to plan 1-2 completely different outfits for each day depending on the weather.
Lastly, you'll plan each day's wardrobe and look to see where you can add/swap out accessories or accent pieces to create different looks with each combination. Try to see if you can reuse the same accessory with another combination – you're looking for every single item you pack to do double (or triple) duty.
What perfect pieces would you plan for your spring look?
