So. I'm having a baby next week. Ready or not.
This week was a little bit of a whirlwind, baby health-wise. Remember how I kept failing my glucose tests but passing my blood sticks? Well, the powers that be up and decided that they wanted me to be labeled a “Borderline Gestational Diabetic”. Fine. But now that means that I have to go in for twice weekly antepartum testing (they monitor the baby's heartbeat and check me for contractions) and they will not allow me to get to 40 weeks in my pregnancy (I can go to 39 weeks and 5 days).
Yep, that means that by next Friday or Saturday, Baby Voldemort will be in the hizzy.
Fuck me. It's all getting real.
I'm a little concerned about the whole “you've got a deadline to go into labor naturally or we'll force drugs down your veins”. I really, really, REALLY do not want to be induced. I don't care what the doctors say, everyone I've seen who had to be induced had a long, hard labor and had to be hooked up to bunches of machines the whole time. I was really hoping to avoid that and be able to walk around and do squats during the labor process. So, I'm trying to stay positive and do a few old wive's tales to make things happen.
The good news is that during my first antepartum testing, they discovered that I'm already having contractions. This was a surprise to me – I haven't felt anything. But, contracting I am. Fingers crossed it turns into something before they send me to be induced.
Another bad ass moment from yesterday? I got to do a super amazing ultrasound (I think it was a 4D?) and see my baby girl's face (chubby cheeks, her daddy's nose, and her little eyelids). Plus, she was sucking on her fingers the whole time and I got to watch! It was completely cool. Here's a view inside my uterus, y'all so you can witness the adorable:
Any of you facing an induction?
