Wintr is getting married this summer and hosting a reception upon the couple's return to Alaska. She's making eco-friendly seed bombs for reception favors and wanted to share the DIY process with Tulle Nation.

Supplies:

  • colored paper
  • water
  • blender
  • metal strainer with tiny holes OR a tea towel
  • wildflower seeds (I used Alaska Wildflower seeds because most of the people
that will be at our reception live in Alaska)
  • cloth
  • ribbon
  • instructions for
    planting seed bombs
  • heart shaped ice cube trays
  • spoon for stirring
  • large
    bowl
  • wire rack
  • scissors

Directions:

Step One: Shred paper and blend with water in a blender. One piece of 8.5 X11 paper
makes approximately one seed bomb.

Step Two: After paper is blended into pulp strain the pulp using metal strainer or
tea towel. The pulp should still be watery enough to easily shape and mold.

Step Three: Mix wildflower seeds into pulp.

Step Four: Strain more water out of pulp.

Step Five: Press pulp into heart molds then carefully pop them out and set them onto
a wire rack to dry. Drying thoroughly may take up to three days, depending on
the size of the mold.

Step Six: While the hearts dry cut fabric or lace into 10X10 inch squares (does not
have to be perfect) and ribbon into 12 inch strips.

Step Seven: Prepare your seed bomb planting instructions to include in each favor.

Step Eight: When hearts are dry put approximately 4-6 hearts plus planting
instructions into center of cloth or lace. Pull all four corners to meet and
tie a ribbon around the cloth tightly.

Are any of you planning to create seed bombs for your wedding?
