DIY Santa is my Bestie T-Shirt

[su_note note_color=”#FFFFFF”]// This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine. //[/su_note]

Remember how last year, I made these cute “Merry Everything” T-shirts for the kids?

Well, Melanie found them and, after a fruitless (yet HILARIOUS) attempt to put her old shirt on, she asked me to make her a new one. Well, twist my arm, kid!

DIY Santa is my Bestie T-Shirt

After messing around in the Cricut Design Space for a bit, I made her this DIY “Santa is my Bestie” T-shirt. Seriously, I love making cute iron-on shirts for my kids and I especially love it now that Cricut has introduced the EasyPress into my life.

It has made adhering iron-on such a breeze! I love it! So safe. so fast, and so easy.

San Antonio lifestyle blogger, Cris Stone, shares a simple to follow DIY on how to make this "Santa is My Bestie" shirt using your @officialcricut.

How cute is this, right? OMG. She is SO wearing this when we visit Santa in North Pole next month (North Pole, Alaska that is).

It was so easy to whip up this design inย Cricut Design Space, cut it with my Cricut Maker, weed it with my BrightPad, and then adhere it with myย EasyPress.

In fact, the whole thing took less than 20 minutes.

Here's how I did it.

Step One:

I started a new project inย Cricut Design Spaceย and typed “Santa is my Bestie” in a text box.

Next, I selected the font, Candice Regular, and messed with the letter spacing until each one overlapped a little.

Then, I clicked “Select All” and the “Weld” tool. Lastly, I resized the entire thing to just under 8″x8″ and clicked the green “Make It” button.

Be sure to click on the “Mirror” option in the next screen!

Step Two:

After clicked the “Continue” button, I loaded some gold glitter iron-on on to a blue lightweight mat and put a fine blade in the Cricut Maker.

Then I loaded the mat into the machine and pressed the flashing Cricut “Go” button on the Maker.

Step Three:

After it was done cutting, I unloaded the mat from the machine, removed the glitter iron-on, and then weeded out all the negative space (i.e. the pieces I didn't want on the finished project) pieces from the iron-on using myย BrightPad.

Step Four:

And last, I turned myย EasyPressย on to 340 degrees and set the timer for 20 seconds. Once it had warmed up, I laid a microfiber cloth on a counter and layered the blank T-shirt on top of that.

I used the EasyPress to warm up the area where I was going to apply the iron-on for five seconds.

Then, I flipped the weededย iron-on sheet on to the T-shirt so it was centered and the letters were face up and reading left-to-right.

I used theย EasyPressย to adhere the iron-on to the T-shirt by applying continuous, gentle pressure for the full 20 seconds.

Step Five:

Lastly, I flipped the T-shirt inside out and pressed one more time on the backside of the iron-on (for five seconds) to really adhere the material.

In between uses of theย EasyPress, I always returned it to it's base for safety.

I use iron-on so much (really, it's my favorite material to use with my Cricut) that the EasyPress is going make SUCH a difference.

No more accidentally tugging my iron-on while moving an iron around.

No more wondering if this little bit or that section got the same amount of heat as the others.

Just warm up, press, turn, and finish. Quick, easy, and so efficient. I love my EasyPress!
