10 Best Beaches for Honeymoons
The best honeymoon beaches are stunning, warm, and, most of all, secluded. If you want to enjoy a beautiful beach during your honeymoon but don't want to deal with hordes of tourists, then you need to check out these top ten honeymoon-worthy beaches.
1. Antigua
Antigua has over 365 separate beaches, some of which are secluded and romantic. If you want a good blend of beaches where you can either party or have a secluded picnic with your partner, Antigua is a great option. Antigua has some great resorts, restaurants, and shops to round out your honeymoon.
2. Barbuda Island
Barbuda is a great place to enjoy the Caribbean without having to worry about many other travelers. It's not overly populated, and it features quiet, secluded beaches. If you want to enjoy some nightlife for part of your trip, take the twenty minute flight to Antigua for a day, and enjoy its clubs and shops.
3. Bodrum, Turkey
This area offers the ultimate in luxury, since many high-class Europeans vacation here. It's not as busy as St. Tropez or Naples, but it's just as beautiful, warm, and luxurious.
4. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
The white sand beaches of Bora Bora are surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters. A honeymoon here is intimate and private, as time seems to stand still. There are only a handful of resorts and they ensure a romance experience with bungalows perched on stilts directly over the lagoon waters. In this slice of paradise don’t expect a lot of nightlife.
5. Fernando de Noronha, Brazil
These gorgeous beaches are as beautiful as the ones in Rio, but they're much quieter and calmer. You can stay in a private bungalow right on the beach for the ultimate luxury and romance on your Brazilian honeymoon.
6. Koh Tao, Thailand
This beautiful tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand is starting to become more discovered, but it's not overrun with tourists. In Thailand, you can enjoy a more exotic ethnic experience than at many other beaches. You can only get to this beach by boat where you can enjoy a private villa or inexpensive hotel accommodations for your honeymoon.
7. Lana'i Hawaii
Lana'i is one of the less-visited beaches in Hawaii. There are just two resorts in this area, so there aren't many people around to spoil your seclusion. Instead of dealing with crowds in Oahu, you can spend most of your honeymoon in this quieter spot and do some sight-seeing on the other islands when you're ready for more action or nightlife.
8. Sardinia, Italy
Sardinia is a great place to enjoy the culture of the Mediterranean while getting the advantages of a beach vacation. Of course, one of the best reasons to head to an Italian beach is all the delicious authentic Mediterranean cuisine you can sample on your trip!
9. US Virgin Islands
Not all the US Virgin Islands are secluded, and many are tourism hot-spots. However, St. John, in particular, features nature reserves and more seclusion than the other two islands. St. Croix is also less traveled than St. Thomas, so it can be a good option. The great part is that the islands are so close together you can taste the culture of each one during your honeymoon trip.
10. Zanzibar, Tanzania
More and more couples are headed to African coasts for beach honeymoons, and with good reason. Places like Zanzibar offer white sand beaches and gorgeous water without the touristy feel of the Caribbean. In Tanzania, you'll also find interesting cultural attractions, and you can even stay on a private island off the coast of Zanzibar for the ultimate in luxury honeymoon travel.
No matter which honeymoon beach location you choose, you should definitely consider setting up a honeymoon registry to help you get there. Your guests can help you upgrade your accommodations, pay for your flight, or enjoy an exotic meal in your beach location instead of getting you wedding gifts you may not need.
