Spring Cleaning Means Maintaining and Upgrading Your HVAC, Too!

Spring is here! If you're in Texas, like I am, you know that brings with it much hotter weather and all that humidity. OH, THE HUMIDITY! Terrible pun aside, let's talk about how the change in season awakes the need inside us to clean. Yep, it's spring cleaning time and that means that every single nook and cranny in my home is getting scrubbed and shined. I'm sure that you're experiencing the same thing, right? Don't worry. We all do. But, did you know that spring cleaning means it's also time to maintain and upgrade your HVAC system, too?

The easiest way to do this to DDIY – DON'T Do It Yourself. Come on, y'all – are trained to learn the skills to clean, maintain, and repair HVAC systems. So, that YouTube video isn't gonna cut it. Just hire this one out. We did and it was AWESOME. I booked an appointment with  (a part of the Direct Energy family of brands). They were so professional and my husband loved that they are independently owned and operated. It feels good to support local businesses, doesn't it? I loved how personal our technicians were. So trustworthy (they are backed by a national brand and a 100% satisfaction guarantee) and the quality of service they provide is topnotch.

As a busy work-from-home-mom of two, I really appreciated  on-time guarantee (it's one of the best in the country!) and their trained, skilled, and experienced heating and air technicians. We had our HVAC worked on by Nick, Issac, and Kalvin, who were so amazing and beyond exceeded our expectations and needs. They were so respectful of my job and wanted to be sure that they were not interrupting me. And I still cannot get over how laid-back they were about having my kids (and cats!) all up in their business while they were trying to work. They were so sweet about it and even showed my daughter what they were doing. Y'all know that made my learned-about-remodeling-at-my-parent's-knees heart explode.

As far as our HVAC goes, here's a rundown of what the technicians did for us:

  • Examined it for malfunctioning and/or worn parts.
  • Did a general cleaning.
  • Examined our exterior unit for wear from age and the Texas weather.
  • Recommended potential services and upgrades and WHY they were recommending them.

After discussing our HVAC needs with them, we opted to have them remove and replace our coil and do a deep clean of the interior unit. They also helped us find a few places online where we could buy our hard-to-find size of air filter. I appreciated that so much. I was also impressed with how clean they were through the entire process. They took care to wear booties inside my home, cleaned their hands regularly, and made sure to clean up after themselves before they left after the appointment.

I feel like this entire experience was a positive testament to the quality of service that  believes in. Did you know that their technicians receive ongoing HVAC training? I believe it since they showed us they are highly skilled, background checked, and capable of solving any HVAC issue. It was amazing how smoothly and comfortably our heating and air conditioning worked after they serviced it. They really did get that total comfort at home that we deserve.
