If you read this post or follow my Stories on Instagram, then you know that my kids are big readers. BIG. They just love reading and having us (or a device) read to them.
Since my husband and I are also enthusiastic readers, we think this is great. So great, that my kids basically know we'll buy them a book if they ask for it.
I mean, they never ask for toys or candy when we go to the store but… if they see a book then they know it's on.
Melanie's Favorite Books Right Now
We have tons of books in our house right now but, because kids are kids, ours have their favorites that they want read over and over… and over and over and over.
Here's a rundown of Melanie's favorite books right now (you can check out Finn's favorites here):
Mae Among The Stars:
Melanie was introduced to this book by Mamademics and has been in love with it ever since.
This is the book that launched her intense interest into Dr. Mae Jemison and space.
Night Night, Groot:
Both kids enjoy this one. It's a fun play on the classic book, Good Night, Moon, but loaded with superheroes and silly comic book in-jokes.
My favorite part is the book introduced a bunch of new (i.e. not in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) characters to my daughter.
She asks their names and wants to know more about them (which makes gets me looking forward to buying actual comic books for her soon).
Captain Marvel:
We got this book this past weekend and is great!
Melanie is just starting to be able to really read and this story of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel is really holding her interest.
DC Super Heroes: My First Book Of Girl Power:
Are you starting to sense a theme with my kid? Hey man, we love superheroes!
Melanie is completely in love with Wonder Woman and Super Girl.
This book is cool since it talks about several of the DC superladies and their powers. This is how she learned about Super Girl.
Ada Twist, Scientist:
Another book that she recently “discovered”. This book really resonates with all of us because Ada is SO similar to Melanie.
The book is really intriguing to her because Ada is so inquisitive and loves learning.
Brave Little Monster:
This book was read to Melanie at school and she really loved it. I bought it for her and she continues to really enjoy it.
It's a fun little book about a little monster at bedtime who is afraid of scary kids at night.
It's silly and Melanie gets to yell during it so win/win.
