Um. I don't know if y'all have heard but… HALLOWEEN IS COMING.

I say that in the exact same yelling voice that my daughter has been saying that phrase in all month (she might be a little bit excited).

But here's the deal y'all – I'm not as into Halloween as my daughter.

I dressed up as kid but kinda phased it out once I hit puberty.

I mean, when you're a chubby, introverted teenage girl – there's not a lot of Halloween costumes out there that make you feel good about yourself.

As an adult, I just never lived in a place where Halloween was a big deal so I didn't bother to dress up.

I did buy candy… I'm not an animal.

I mean, I ate it by myself watching TV on the couch but still! I bought candy!

Through 2019, every single year since Melanie was born, I organized a neighborhood wide Trick-or-Treat Hay Ride.

Our old rural neighborhood road wasn't set up for kids to safely go door-to-door so that event allowed them to do so in a safer environment.

This year, we're in a “normal” neighborhood and will be participating in social distant trick-or-treating.

And thus far, I've managed to avoid dressing up for Halloween.

It's just not my thing.

However, this year, Melanie is really wanting me to wear a costume.
