Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : One Month

This past Saturday, Finn officially turned one month old! We love him more every day. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Week Three

As of Saturday, Finn is three weeks old and still the chillest baby ever. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

The Story Behind Our Baby Boy’s Name

Ah, baby names. They are one of the BIGGEST deals during the whole pregnancy/having a baby process. Seriously (next to the gender) THIS is what everyone wants to know. And why not? It’s something tangible to attach to an intangible object. It makes the baby REAL. But for me, more fun than knowing the name of a baby is learning the story behind the name. So today, I thought I’d share the story behind our baby boy’s name.

Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Week Two

So, I have another baby and as of Saturday, he’s two weeks old. We’re pretty enamored with him. He’s wonderfully chill and easy (especially compared to what a total asshole his sister was when she was a newborn). Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

Family-Friendly Fun For All Ages At The LEGO® Americana Roadshow At The North Star Mall

This weekend, my little family had the opportunity to attend the LEGO® Americana Roadshow, a traveling display of large scale LEGO® models replicating some of the nation’s most iconic and well-known landmarks. We had such a good time since this one-of-a-kind exhibit is highly visual, educational, and free! Melanie has been playing with LEGOs® since she was a year old and it was so amazing to see her get incredibly excited looking at the workmanship and inventiveness of the LEGO® exhibits. Truly, it is family-friendly fun for all ages at the LEGO® Americana Roadshow at the North Star Mall!

Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Week One

So, I have another baby and as of Saturday, he’s a whole week old. We’re pretty enamored with him. Welcome To The World, James Finnegan!

We were pretty busy this past weekend. We welcomed our second child into the world at 3:23 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2016. James Finnegan (or Finn, as we’re calling him) was born at 20.5″ and 8 lbs, 6oz. He’s got ginger hair and looks just like his Daddy. We’re delighted beyond belief!

The Best Investment You Can Make As A Second Time Parent Is The Evenflo Sibby Travel System and the Ride-Along Board

I’m about to become a two-time parent and with it came a HUGE issue that I hadn’t anticipated. How am I supposed to safely wrangle and transport a newborn and a rambunctious 3 year old around San Antonio (and on future road trips and vacations)? As many of you know, my daughter is not a quiet, sit in a stroller seat kinda kid. She’s more of a let’s-see-how-fast-and-far-I-can-run-away kid. We’ve been using a leash (and 100% happy with that decision) but really did somewhere for her to relax when we went out for a long day at the rodeo or park. And it also needed to accommodate her new brother and his growing needs. Luckily, I realized that the best investment you can make as a second time parent is the Evenflo Sibby Travel System and the Ride-Along Board.

Why Chemical Free Baby Care Is So Important And How WaterWipes Is Helping You Achieve It

As many of you know, I just had my second child (Welcome to the world, Finn!) and we are knee deep in babyness over here. It’s all uninterrupted sleep, boobs, and diapers. SO. MANY. DIAPERS. And you know what that means? So. Many. Wipes. And with that many wipes comes toxins and chemicals… or does it? Y’all know that I’m SUPER picky about keeping my house green and toxin-free. I strive to make it a safe haven for my family. But that’s so tough to do with baby wipes! That’s why I’m so delighted to discover WaterWipes! A company that is passionate about sharing why chemical free baby care is so important and how they are helping you achieve it.

Best Affordable Nursing Bras For Breastfeeding Moms With Big Boobs

Now that my baby boy is here, I’m back on the breastfeeding wagon. I nursed Melanie for two and a half years and wore nursing bras the entire time. And, even when I’m not nursing, I have big boobs. Like, “who did your plastic surgery” (Answer: GOD) big boobs. That makes finding nursing bras in my pricepoint even more of a challenge. At this point, I’m kind of an expert at finding great nursing bras at an affordable price. I love the wonderful, frilly, lacy ones SO MUCH but they definitely tend to be out of my price range so I’m always on the look out for ones that are practical (but still pretty) and work within my budget. So, I’ve decided to help y’all out and round up the best affordable nursing bras for breastfeeding moms with big boobs:

Work At Home Mom: Ideology Versus Reality

I was raised by a work at home mom (my mom has had her own accounting business for 40+ years) and, to me, it was the ideal situation if I ever became a mom. I’d get to spend time with my kids and be there for special school days or to volunteer but I’d also get to help make money for the household and retain a little of my pre-kid independence. And I’m thrilled to say that, for the most part, I’m incredibly happy to be a WAHM. Sure, it’s exhausting and demanding and I routinely forget to brush my teeth, but, all in all, I like it. However, I have noticed that when you tell people that you’re a mom who works from home – they… really DO NOT get it. It’s funny to me to hear what people think WAHMs do (compared to what we actually do) so I’ve come up with this little graphic to show you what it’s like to be a Work At Home Mom: Ideology Versus Reality.

The Sweetest Thing You Can Do For An Expectant Mom In The Weeks BEFORE The Baby Comes

This weekend, my neighbor surprised me with the sweetest thing you can do for an expectant mom in the weeks before the baby comes. She made me a week’s worth of bake-n-serve meals! Yes, yes. I know that every new mom wants meals like this after the baby shows up (I did and LOVED IT). It’s the best thing ever to not have to worry about feeding people and yourself while also juggling a newborn. But honestly, it’s so completely awesome to not have to think about planning, cooking, and cleaning up after a meal in those last few weeks of the third trimester. So, if you’d like to give an expectant mom the best surprise ever, here’s a short list of some tasty bake-n-go and crock pot dump freezer meals that would be perfect!
