Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Seven Months

Finn turned 7 months old on Monday and, well, I forgot to take pictures until today. My bad. But y’all – seven months is BANK. Finn’s sitting up on his own, quite the wiggle monster, and starting to give kisses. It’s freaking ADORABLE. He’s still working on crawling and way, way NOT into eating solid foods but loves watching other people eat. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

The Top 12 Items You Actually Need For Your Kitchen

Cooking. It’s one of those things that you either LOVE or you really don’t enjoy it. For me, cooking is something that I like to do for my family but I’m not one of those people who is over here inventing recipes everyday. So, if you look in my kitchen, you won’t find a bunch of gadgets or specialized kitchen tools – what you’ll find is a selection of high quality, well-designed items that work great. I always look for versatility in my kitchen tools and really need ones that can do multiple jobs really well. Because, when it boils down to it, here’s the top 12 items you actually need for your kitchen:

Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Six Months

Six months is when all the magic starts happening, people! Today is not only when Finn hits the six month mark but it is also his dad’s 50th birthday! I’m doing this post right after he had his six month well baby check-up (everything looks great) and his latest round of vaccines. Everyone continues to go crazy over his ginger head, blue eyes, and adorable personality. He’s gearing up to eat his first solid food (sweet potato) tonight and his dad’s excited to be the one to feed it to him. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

Teaching Kids the Value of Love on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is coming and I’m sure that you’re thinking up wonderful ways to celebrate with your partner, spouse, or friends but have you considered using the holiday to encourage your children to embrace all their loving relationships? From the time I was a toddler, my father would carefully pick out a card to give to each of his daughters on Valentine’s Day. They always featured a poem and were signed “Love, Dad”. I received one of these cards every year without fail, even after I moved out, went to college, and got engaged. The simple action of giving me a card on Valentine’s Day was my father way of showing me that I didn’t “need a man” on this holiday. Yes, a romantic Valentine’s with the one you love is fantastic, but so is knowing that a lot of people out there love you and think you’re great.

How The Huggies® Little Movers 2 Month Supply Gave Me Back Time To Spend With My Baby

The first year with your baby is a lot of little moments and big milestones. It can be overwhelming, frustrating, exhilarating, and amazing. It can also be a complete sucker of time. Time spent nursing, time spent rocking the baby, time spent doing extra laundry, and time spent shopping for baby necessities. Like diapers. OMG. The number of diapers you will buy and the time you spend buying them! It’s unbelievable to me how it always seemed like we needed to run to the store and get more diapers. No matter how hard I tried and planned… it seemed like we’re always loading up in the car to buy more. So guess how excited I was to discover that Sam’s Club is now offering a 2 month bulk supply of diapers (ON SALE). It’s amazing how the Huggies® Little Movers 2 month supply gave me back time to spend with my baby!

Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Five Months

This post is a little bit late since Finn turned five months old while we were on vacation in Walt Disney World last week. But, hey, better late than never, right? Our little guy continues to be the easiest baby and is just so happy all the time. He’s got a delightfully cheerful personality and a little chub on him. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

12 Totally Cool and Unique Teething Necklaces and Toys

I hate teething. It is SERIOUSLY the worse. I joke that teething is nature’s birth control. It’s awful for the baby (they are in such pain and completely confused about what’s happening), it’s awful for you (you can’t get them to stop screaming), and it’s awful for anything located within 4″ of the baby (everything will end up in their mouth and gnawed on). But you know one thing that doesn’t have to be awful when it comes to teething? The tools you use to help sooth it. From teething necklaces to teething toys, I’ve found 12 totally cool and unique teething necklaces and toys for you and your baby to enjoy.

Stay Healthy And Hydrated With Neutrogena® Norwegian Formula® Hand Cream

One thing I learned from living in Alaska is that during the winter months, it’s VERY important to keep your skin hydrated (from the inside out). Not only does it make you feel better (no itchiness or tightness of the skin) but it can actually help you stay healthy during this time of year. That’s why I actively work to keep myself hydrated on the inside and the outside when it’s cold outdoors and the forced air is on indoors. From drinking tons of water to stashing tubes of lotion everywhere, here’s what I do to stay healthy and hydrated (with Neutrogena® Norwegian Formula® Hand Cream).
