Partnered Post: Best Places to Say I Do in the Winter

Even as summer beach weddings seem to be a hot favourite, there is something uniquely magical about a winter wedding among snow-covered landscapes and celebrating in front of open fires. Even if you’re opting for a last-minute wedding abroad this winter, you don’t need to forgo the sunshine, with destinations from the Caribbean to Spain boasting pleasant temperatures and beautiful seashores. Here are some of best destinations for a winter wedding this year:

Alternative Wedding Vows or Readings: Jane Austen Edition

Let me tell you, one of the hardest things about planning my own wedding was trying to write the wedding ceremony. I was not a fan of the traditional vows (I obey no one but myself thankyouverymuch) and really wanted to find something that reflected our concept of what we wanted our relationship to be. If you’re in the same boat but looking for alternative vows with a more literary lean lean – here’s some wedding vows inspired by Jane Austen!

Planning Your Dream Wedding On a Budget: The Cost (A Guest Post from Heather of On The Go Bride)

I won’t forget the excitement I felt the day my now-fiancé, then-boyfriend, finally proposed. We had met two years prior while I was visiting the USA for the summer from Canada. After spending one too many hours with the under 12 crowd (as a nanny), I felt the need to seek out local friends. Scott and I met online, and I won’t say it was love-at-first-sight, but certainly love-at-first-week! Tragic, for a pair who would be forced to part ways just 4 weeks later. We made a decision to make it work, whatever it took; to beat the odds. I had two years remaining in my bachelor’s degree and we would have to live apart for at least that long. Our decision was quick, but we were all in.

The Ranty Bride Takes on Unplugged Weddings

After reading this article on technology-free weddings, I was surprised at some of the backlash. (Though, I probably shouldn’t be, as every decision surrounding a wedding from napkin color to program protocol seems to be divisive.) We went no phones, no cameras at our wedding ceremony, and it was one of the best decisions we made that day.

Reader Question: Help Planning a Charming Southern Wedding in Savannah Part 2

I love, love, LOVE it when a member of Tulle Nation writes to me and asks for help planning their wedding. It’s always fun to hear about other people’s ideas and plans and get to offer them a few more. Recently, Abby wrote to me and asked if I could help her come up with some budget-friendly ideas for her upcoming spring southern charm wedding reception. I tackled that on Monday (read it here) and today, I’m showing you my ideas for Abby’s ceremony:

Wedding Wednesday: Our Texas Wedding Ceremony and Vows

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that our wedding ceremony was the most important thing during The Boy and my wedding planning. When we had our quickie ceremony in Alaska back in July of 2011, I wrote the entire ceremony the night before so that my sweet daddy could officiate it before he passed away. I wrote that sucker at 11 o’clock the night before the wedding and truly, truly loved it.

Your Wedding Might Be Boring and Unromantic

It seems that all you see these days are big, lush, deeply romantic weddings were all the guests are perfectly dressed and having a wonderful time. But what if your wedding is small and simple and your guests just sit around and talk? Well, your wedding would be a lot like mine (and, I’m guessing, most people’s weddings). And you know what? Contrary to what all those magazines, TV shows, and blogs want you to think – that’s fine. A boring and unromantic wedding is not bad or wrong or weird. It’s just fine.
