Finn turned 7 months old on Monday and, well, I forgot to take pictures until today. My bad. But y’all – seven months is BANK. Finn’s sitting up on his own, quite the wiggle monster, and starting to give kisses. It’s freaking ADORABLE. He’s still working on crawling and way, way NOT into eating solid foods but loves watching other people eat. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):
Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday With This DIY “O Canada” Banner
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I was born and raised in Alaska, roughly two hours from the Canadian border. It’s funny growing up there, because it always feels like Canada is a part of you (like, you refer to the continental United States as “the Outside” but Canada is “next door”). Growing up, we often hosted high schools from Canada at sporting events or cultural activites. So much so, that basically everyone in Alaska knows both of the national anthems of the two countries. I sang “The Star Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” before many a high school basketball game and, to this day, I still know both by heart. So when I realized that my “other homeland” was going to be celebrating their 150th birthday – I immediately wanted to do a little something to embrace those memories of singing their gorgeous anthem. So, I busted out my trusty Cricut Explore Air and made a fun, glittery banner! Check out my step by step tutorial on how to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with this DIY “O Canada” banner!

Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Six Months
Six months is when all the magic starts happening, people! Today is not only when Finn hits the six month mark but it is also his dad’s 50th birthday! I’m doing this post right after he had his six month well baby check-up (everything looks great) and his latest round of vaccines. Everyone continues to go crazy over his ginger head, blue eyes, and adorable personality. He’s gearing up to eat his first solid food (sweet potato) tonight and his dad’s excited to be the one to feed it to him. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):

This post is a little bit late since Finn turned five months old while we were on vacation in Walt Disney World last week. But, hey, better late than never, right? Our little guy continues to be the easiest baby and is just so happy all the time. He’s got a delightfully cheerful personality and a little chub on him. Like I did with Melanie, I’ll be doing a little photo project for his first year with monthly photos and a brief rundown of what’s happening in his little world (I’m sharing this in a format that I plan on using in a photo book featuring his first year):
Finnegan’s First Year Photo Project : Four Months

5 Steps For Self-Care After Having A Baby (Featuring Neutrogena Body Oil)
I tend to be one of those people who “let’s myself go” during my pregnancy. Like, I stop caring completely. After the baby is born, I can start to refocus on myself and feel like me again. And it all starts with some small, simple actions that I can do every day and get back to basics with my self-care routine. If you’re in the same situation and looking to regain that sense of self, here’s my 5 steps for self-care after having a baby (featuring Neutrogena Body Oil):

The Gift Every New Mom REALLY Wants!
I recently had my second child and this time, I tried to be more prepared then I was the first go around. I pre-washed all the baby’s clothes, read the instructions for my new breast pump, and (most importantly) this time – I had most of my postpartum meals preplanned. And one of those meals was getting a delivery from Blue Apron. I really didn’t know what to expect but ended up LOVING it. I also decided that THIS is that gift that I’m giving at every baby shower from here on out. Because, honestly, this is the gift every new mom REALLY wants!
