Getting married doesn’t have anything to do with having a wedding. The actual act of getting married is pretty basic and simple (see how to get married in your state here) and requires a little paperwork and no fanfare. But having a wedding? ANYONE can have a wedding (The Boy and I had two!). Which begs the question – why have a wedding? Well, I can only speak for myself but I loved having a wedding since it was an excuse to gather up friends and family I rarely see and have a great party. But don’t listen to me, here’s why other bloggers and Tulle readers think a wedding is the shit:
10 Great Father/Daughter Dance Songs
Thinking of using a familiar but not totally traditional song for your father/daughter dance (After all, how many more times can anyone handle hearing that damn “Butterfly Kisses” song)? Here’s some great ones:
Wedding Photography Regrets By Ariella Monti
When someone dies, pictures suddenly become extremely important. Photos, video, audio, become tangible memories of the person lost. I realized quickly that I had very few photos of Sean from our wedding. I didn’t think too much about this on April 17. It didn’t matter, until it mattered.
DIY: How to Make Double Sided Cloth Napkins from Old Napkins
Remember that time I DIYed all 78 of the cloth napkins for my $5,000 backyard wedding? Oy. My hands still hurt thinking about it! But, while that DIY may have been boring and time-consuming, I did love all my napkins once I was done – they looked so pretty! And also super awesome? Since our wedding day, they’ve actually been used quite a bit (mostly for holidays but also for my baby shower). It’s been so handy to have a giant wad of pretty linens available whenever I needed them; however, it’s really been bugging me that the were all one sided and had ugly raw edges. So, I set out to fix that and figured out how to make double sided cloth napkins from old napkins!
The Lazy Bitch’s Guide to Finding a Wedding Venue on a Budget
All hail the lazy bitches! We’re the ones who would rather pin pretty stuff on Pinterest than actually get off our asses and DIY them. We’re the ones who opt to let our partner plan the entire honeymoon because it allows us to spend that time cleaning out our DVR. Yes, we are alive and well in the wedding community – though we’re enjoying said community reclining on our collective bums. But alas, if you want a wedding on a budget – it does take work and work means… well, working. But have no fear, fellow lazy bitches! I’ve rounded up my best tips and ideas for finding a wedding venue on a budget (and not breaking a sweat).
Top 5 Places to Buy Flowers in Bulk for your Wedding
One of the easiest ways to save money on your wedding is to buy your wedding flowers in bulk and DIY them yourself (or hire it out to someone looking to build their portfolio). For my wedding, we bought our flowers in bulk from a local wildflower farm and saved a bundle! Here are my top 5 places to buy flowers in bulk for your wedding:

Music: iPod Playlist for a DJ-Less Wedding Reception
A reader on my Facebook page requested a post about song suggestions for an iPod playlist for a DJ-less wedding reception. She likes all kinds of music (Top 40 on the radio with a mix of some late ’90s and lots of classics) but her fiance has the complete opposite taste in music. They’d really just like a variety of songs that will make everyone happy (from 20 and 30 somethings to the older crowd, too). In my experience, a collection of songs from the ’80s/’90s along with some pop-style country and big hits from the ’50s/’60s are the best mix for a wedding reception. Here are my suggestions:

Planning Your Dream Wedding On a Budget: The Cost (A Guest Post from Heather of On The Go Bride)
I won’t forget the excitement I felt the day my now-fiancé, then-boyfriend, finally proposed. We had met two years prior while I was visiting the USA for the summer from Canada. After spending one too many hours with the under 12 crowd (as a nanny), I felt the need to seek out local friends. Scott and I met online, and I won’t say it was love-at-first-sight, but certainly love-at-first-week! Tragic, for a pair who would be forced to part ways just 4 weeks later. We made a decision to make it work, whatever it took; to beat the odds. I had two years remaining in my bachelor’s degree and we would have to live apart for at least that long. Our decision was quick, but we were all in.
The Ranty Bride Takes on Unplugged Weddings
After reading this article on technology-free weddings, I was surprised at some of the backlash. (Though, I probably shouldn’t be, as every decision surrounding a wedding from napkin color to program protocol seems to be divisive.) We went no phones, no cameras at our wedding ceremony, and it was one of the best decisions we made that day.
